The Liberty Tree Project

A total of 37,282 of Massachusetts’ bravest men and women have made the ultimate sacrifice. The Liberty Tree Project aims to plant a tree in memory of each of these heroes.

Honoring & Rembering.

Honoring those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of American ideals is among our most sacred duties as citizens, and that's what The Liberty TreeProject is intended to do.

“Through the Liberty Tree Project, we can honor our nation’s fallen heroes while protecting our environment and ensuring we pass this world along to the next generation a little better than we found it. With our support, the Project will build a memorial that both commemorates our past and strengthens our future.”
- Congressman Joseph Kennedy III

Who We Are

Our Mission.

Home Of the Brave, Inc. (HOBI) is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit that was founded by four Marines who served during the war in Vietnam. As Marines, they were taught the famous Marine Corps’ slogans of “Semper Fidelis-Always Faithful” and “Gung Ho- Work Together.”  They were taught to work as a team; take care of your own; and never leave anyone behind.  Also, as Marines they were taught to improvise; adapt; and overcome. Given the above, it is only natural that they founded HOBI.

The Liberty Tree Project is an example of the above.  By planting trees in honor of veterans we ensure that the veteran is not left behind-we ensure that he/she will always be remembered.  Veterans have fought for their country.  By planting trees in their honor these deceased veterans still carry on their mission of service to the Country they loved and served because these memorial trees will help:(1) to combat climate change and (2) to beautify the environment.

Improvise! Adapt! Overcome! Semper Fidelis – Never leave anyone behind (physically or in memory)Gung Ho- Work as a team to accomplish the mission

This is what The Liberty Tree Project is all about. Join us in honoring our veterans and fighting to improve our environment!
We create

A Living Memorial.

In the nearly two and a half centuries since the American Revolution began in earnest, an estimated 37,000 of Massachusetts' sons and daughters have given their lives in defense of their Commonwealth and their nation.

Our goal is to plant trees across theCommonwealth - one for each of the Massachusetts veterans who have laid down their lives in service to their country. To recognize these courageous men and women, each tree will carry symbolic dog tags bearing the name of a f alien soldier. Each tree serves as a living memorial, a vibrant and life-affirming symbol of the person's memory as well as a serene place to pay respects for generations to come. Planting trees to honor fallen veterans hearkens back to one of the most important symbols of Colonial Massachusetts and its role in the struggle for American independence: the Liberty Tree.

About Us.

Founded by four Marine veterans who served during the Vietnam War, the project was created as a reflection of the Marine Corps motto:
Semper Fidelis - Always Faithful.

In addition, The Liberty Tree Project our team is  is highly active as an advocate for veterans and their needs. Our other projects include advocating for and helping to develop assisted living facilities, long-term care and better transportation options for elderly and disabled veterans and Gold Star families. Though we may no longer be in active service, we’ve never forgotten our sacred obligation to care for our fellow brothers and sisters in arms. Staying true to our Marine Corps roots, we are and will always remain faithful.
